Visitors can travel anytime of the year or month and enjoy your trek to see silverback gorillas, however the best time is during the dry season and each year, the mountain gorilla destination experience two phrases of the dry season, the longest often recorded from June to September and the shortest from December to February.  In Uganda, a total of 21 habituated gorilla families can be visited to see silverback mountain gorilla groups. Where as Rwanda has 12 habituated gorilla groups to explore on silverback gorilla trekking tours.
